President Bob Blair Kicks Off the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk

On Tuesday, May 16th, President Bob Blair kicked off the campaign to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2017 Light the Night Walk! Since 1983, the 1.3 million members of our union family have raised over $80 million to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Over 25,000 of those hard working men and women are here in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Join Team UFCW 227 and walk with us in the Light the Night Walks in Lexington, September 17th and Louisville, September 23rd. As this year’s Volunteer Walk Chair President Bob Blair will be working hard to raise money for life saving cancer research and patient support in our community and our union family has his back!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. They are the light that shines to eradicate not only leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, but many other cancers as well. In fact, of the 67 FDA-approved drugs to treat cancer, just about half were originally intended to treat blood cancers and many of those were advanced by LLS.

Cutting-edge research is only part of the complex equation of battling cancer. We must care for those who have been diagnosed, and LLS Patient Support delivers emotional, financial and informational resources to patients and their families – all completely free of charge.

Light the Night is unique because it takes place after dark and features one-of-a-kind glowing lanterns in gold, white and red. Gold lanterns are carried to remember loved ones lost to cancer, white lanterns are carried by survivors and red lanterns are carried by friends and family. Together, we literally bring light to the darkness of cancer.

We hope you will join our team and our mission to end cancer.

  1. Farbest in Vincennes will be attending Light the Night on September 23. I am posting a sheet to see how many are interested in coming. I personally will not have enough hands to carry a light for all my loved ones lost. AWESOME CAUSE! If you have any flyers to help inform please e-mail.
