UFCW 227 is the Union for Grocery Workers

UFCW Local 227 Kroger member

From butchers to produce clerks to cashiers, the people working in our grocery stores are on the front lines, keeping our families fed.

UFCW Local 227 represents thousands of grocery workers across Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Local 227 currently represents workers at Kroger, Meijer, Rainbow Blossom, Good Foods, Banks and Cashsaver. We believe that every grocery worker should be provided the kind of wages, benefits, and schedules that help strengthen workers, families, and communities.

We are here to answer your questions and serve you, even if you don’t have any experience with unions. Do you work in Kentucky or Southern Indiana and want information on how to start a union? No problem! We’re happy to answer any questions you might have about where to start in organizing a union.

We believe that ALL grocery workers are essential and always have been. Despite their importance to our communities, some grocery companies have turned the industry into a race to the bottom leaving workers with low wages, lack of benefits, and inadequate schedules.
