UFCW Local 227 represents highly skilled workers in Evansville, Indiana at Red Spot Paint and Varnish. Workers in this industry are routinely exposed to hazards on the job, including the potential for inhaling toxic fumes and the possibility of fires or explosions that cause serious injury and even death.
As the chemical workers union, we fight for safe workplaces for our members. Safety programs and rules are also only as good as the enforcement in the workplace keeping the employer honest. As a union we fight to enforce these programs and are backed by a union negotiated contract.
