Scholarships
UFCW 227 distributes five $2,000 scholarships for students pursuing post‐secondary education each year. UFCW Local 227 members, their spouses and dependents(children, step-children and grandchildren) are eligible to apply. Online applications are currently available. You will need to mail a copy of your acceptance letter or enrollment receipt for your application to be considered. It must be postmarked on or before June 1st, 2025. UFCW International Union Scholarship
Every year the UFCW International offers scholarships to union members or their immediate family who want to further their education and demonstrate a commitment to their communities and to UFCW values.
Union Plus Scholarship Program
Since 1991, Union Plus has distributed over 5 million scholarship dollars to union members and their families. Amounts range from $500 to $4,000. These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the Fall of 2025. Students may re-apply each year.
Discount College Program
UFCW has partnered with EBS Union College Benefit and EDVance to offer UFCW members and their families exclusive discounted tuition rates ranging from 30%-50% at participating colleges and prospective students can work directly with school administrators to apply for additional federal financial assistance, which could cover their remaining tuition costs.
Get your GED for Free
With this specially designed program, UFCW members will be able to earn their GED at their own pace, on their own time. You can even take classes on your phone.
Free Foreign Language Program
Learn a new language
UFCW members can learn a foreign language online for free— including Spanish, French, German, English, Japanese and over 70 other languages! Quarterly enrollment into this program is on first come, first serve basis.
