ABC Impact: Making Government Work for Working Families
ABC turns pocket change into big change for working families by fighting for:
Increasing the minimum wage.
Paid sick leave.
Equal pay for equal work.
Overtime pay.
Safe line speeds at packing houses.
Unemployment insurance.
Immigration reform.
A Political Action Committee (PAC) exists legally as a means for unions, corporations, and organizations to make donations to federal candidates and or political parties. PACs work by raising voluntary money from people who are either members of, employed by, or working for a particular organization. United Food and Commercial Workers has its own PAC called the Active Ballot Club (ABC).
ABC provides UFCW members with protection against anti-union politicians by supporting pro-worker candidates and incumbents; Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. ABC contributions help workers level the political playing field by activating and amplifying their political voice. Every voluntary UFCW-member contribution to ABC helps make the difference between electing candidates who care about working families, and those who do not. It is the only political action committee that is dedicated to advocating for and protecting the interests of UFCW members.
While we will never be able to match corporate political contributions, building our PAC, along with political activism by UFCW members, is essential to our success. For information on how you can get active contact your Local Representative
