What you need to know about the COVID-19 vaccine schedule in Kentucky and Indiana
We are all eagerly awaiting our turn getting one of the COVID-19 vaccines, and as frontline workers it is not only important to us, but important to our communities that we do. Kentucky and Indiana will have slightly different plans, and as each state figures out how many doses of the vaccine they have on hand they may make changes to these plans. To find the most updated information visit Kentucky’s COVID-19 vaccine website or the Indiana COVID-19 vaccine website.
In Kentucky as of 1/11/21 the vast majority of UFCW 227 members will fall under “Essential Workers” in section 1c. Frontline workers in Kentucky are defined as “fire fighters, police officers, corrections officers, food and agricultural workers, United States Postal Service workers, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, public transit workers, and those who work in the educational sector (teachers, support staff, and daycare workers.)”
Currently Kentucky is vaccinating people in phase 1a.
In Indiana as of 1/11/21 they have asked that you have patience as they roll out the vaccine and have not set a firm current outline for their vaccine phases. In their original plan released in October of 2020 most UFCW 227 members fell in Phase 2 listed as “individuals who’s in-person work is essential, required, and places them in settings where social distancing is not possible and transmission risk is high.”
Indiana is currently in phase 1a. View this for more information about the current COVID-19 vaccine status in Indiana.
