Have you ever come across a painted rock that somehow you knew was made just for you? If so you can thank the crew from Louisville Rocks and it’s founder Kim Jolley. Kim a member of the union since moving to Louisville in 2016 decided that the city of Louisville could benefit from some random acts of kindness in the form of beautiful painted rocks.

Louisville Rocks stems from the use of painting rocks as a form of expressional therapy that helps its members feel their importance by the randomness of finding one of their special paintings on a rock canvas. Pre COVID restrictions Louisville Rocks hosted events all over the city at parks and libraries to promote STEM and Summer reading. Every October the group hosts a Rocktober event in a different park which allows anyone visiting the park a chance to get their paint brushes dirty and create something wonderful to be left in various spots around the community that seem to find the right person in their time of need. During Rocktober the group raffles off baskets and donates their profits to charities.

2017 they raised $106.00 for a pet shelter.
2018 they raised almost 2000 non perishable food items for the Neighborhood House in the Portland Area.
2019 they raised $1036.00 for a local organization My Dog Eats First.
2020 they raised $1016.73 non perishable food items for the Neighborhood House in the Portland Area.

Thanks for all you do for the community Kim and Louisville Rocks! www.facebook.com/groups/louisvillerockpainting
