Black History Month Virtual Tours

So many experiences are at our fingertips now that there is no need to make the trip to Louisville, or even Washington D.C.! You can visit these important heritage centers virtually and honor Black History Month by learning more about African American history, heritage, and contributions.

To take the description straight from the website, the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage “is the result of a collection of African American educators, artist, and historians who have collaborated to give the long-dormant history of African Americans in their region the voice and platform it deserves.”

KCAAH’s goals are to enhance the public’s knowledge about the history, heritage and cultural contributions of African Americans in Kentucky. In addition to its commitment to preserving the traditions and accomplishments of the past, the Center is a vital, contemporary institution, providing space for performances of all types.”

In this 360° VR virtual tour Executive Director Aukram Burton will show you around the center visiting and sharing the exhibits. For more information about the center click here to visit their website.

The National Museum for African American Heritage and Culture in Washington D.C. is the largest cultural destination devoted to the African-American experience.

You can visit many exhibits online with their Digital Resource Guide, Story Series, and a wealth of education materials for adults, children, and educators! Click any of the underlined sections to visit those areas of their website or visit nmaahc.si.edu/ to discover topics on your own!
