There are three scholarships you can apply for as a UFCW 227 member, though eligibility for your family members will change with each scholarship.
UFCW 227 Foundation distributes five (5) $2,000 scholarships for students pursuing post‐secondary education each year. UFCW 227 members, their spouses and dependents (children, step-children and grandchildren) are eligible to apply. Applications are available by clicking here, and can be found on the UFCW 227 website in the Members section, under Education Benefits. The application is online, but you will also need to mail a sealed copy of your transcript to the local in order for the application to be considered.
UFCW International Scholarship for UFCW members, their children and/or dependents of are also eligible to apply if they are unmarried and under the age of 20 on May 31, 2023. Members and eligible family who win this scholarship can renew it up to 4 years. This scholarship is for those in our union family who want to further their education and demonstrate a commitment to their communities and to UFCW values. The Union Plus Scholarship Program has distributed over 5 million scholarship dollars to union members and their families since 1991. UFCW 227 members, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations), can apply. Amounts range from $500 to $4,000. The students selected for university, college, trade or technical school scholarships represent a wide sampling of backgrounds, union affiliations, goals and accomplishments. The selection process is very competitive since they receive over 5,000 applications each year. To apply click here, the deadline is January 31st, which is right around the corner.

Our Discount College Program features exclusive discounted tuition rates ranging from 30%-50% at participating colleges! Prospective students can work directly with school administrators to apply for additional federal financial assistance, which could cover their remaining tuition costs. *5% interest for borrowing $8,000, is roughly $2,200. If you borrow $8,000 each of the 4 years, your additional interest could be $8,800 depending on interest rates.
