Learn a New Language for Free
UFCW 227 members can learn a new language for free! This union member benefit allows you to choose from over 70 languages. The online classes cover 4 important areas to help you master a new language: grammar, vocabulary, culture and pronunciation.
“Seats” in the class are available to UFCW members on a first come, first serve basis and will be rotated each quarter to allow all UFCW members to access this valuable benefit. You can fill out the form to enroll for this union member benefit here: https://www.ufcw.org/language/.
Quarter Dates:
Winter quarter: January 1 – March 31
Spring quarter: April 1 – June 30
Summer quarter: July 1 – September 30
Fall quarter: October 1 – December 31
Why Should I Learn a New Language?
There are many answers to that question. According to Babbel, who surveyed over 5,000 people from 6 countries, 53% said to communicate better while traveling, 46% said they were interested in the language and 35% said to keep themselves mentally fit.
One interesting finding from Babbel’s survey was that Americans were more than twice as likely as people from other countries to be interested in learning a new language to better understand our roots and our heritage (https://www.babbel.com/en/magazine/why-learn-languages).
