Ways Your Family Can Celebrate Black History
To start our celebration of Black History Month we’ve gathered some ways you and your family can celebrate and learn.
If you and your family enjoy watching movies together, Country Living Magazine put together a list of 36 movies featuring black artists or sharing black history.
“Every February we dedicate to celebrating Black History Month, but the opportunity to celebrate and honor Black culture and culture makers, along with the work of seeking reconciliation, equality, and pursuing anti-racism, is a year-round endeavor. The late actor Sidney Poitier said, “Living consciously involves being genuine; it involves listening and responding to others honestly and openly; it involves being in the moment.” And one of the ways we can be in the moment, listening, like Poitier says, is by watching films about Black history and especially those created by Black artists.”
On their list is Hidden Figures, a movie sharing the true story of the 3 black women that made it possible for John Glenn to go into space.
